Straight from the Bizarre Mind of David Hicks...
This is my page for you, Caleb.  There is no link to it because I wanted it to be just for you, not for the rest of the world.
Having said that, if you want to show the page to others, that's fine.  If you want to share something on the page with others, that's fine.  Whatever you do or don't do with this page, I leave that up to you.
So what's on this page (or more accuately, what will be on it)? Anything and everything I can think of that may help you, encourage you, and just lift your spirits, especially things I've made or done for you.  These will be things that hopefully will help you in your relationship with God and Jesus, and will help you to overcome Satan.
I hope that any time you need a lift, any time you need a smile, any time you need a laugh, and maybe any time you need to cry, you can come here and find exactly that.
I know and you know that I have not been anything close to the perfect Dad.  I have made more mistakes as a Dad than I care to count, than I ever thought I'd make.  And so if there are times in your life if you wonder whether or not I love you, may you come to this page and be reminded of how much I do.
I honestly can't remember when I wrote this.  I remember singing it to you at the end of one of your birthdays, and I remember you tearing up if not crying when you heard it.  May you hold the words, the meaning, the wisdom, the warnings, and the love in this song forever in your heart.  May it guide you through life. May it cheer you on dark days.
If you never dunk a ball, or score the winning shot,
If you never hit it deep, and round the bases trot,
If you never run a yard, with football in hand,
Here are some things I want you to know,
I pray you'll understand.
For one, your mother and I will always love you.
For two, with God and Jesus this also is true.
For three, it's in serving the Lord you win the fight.
For four, so seek, trust and love Him all your might.
If you never make straight As, or conquer Calculus,
If you never turn a head, and make the young girls blush,
If you never strike it rich, or have thousands of fans,
Here are some things you've got to know,
You've got to understand.
Look at for the liar, the great enemy.
He'll kick when you're down, puff you up when you succeed.
The God of all creation is greater than this foe.
Know His word, put faith in Him and victory you'll know.
If you become a great athlete, and make it to the pros,
If you find fortune and fame, a wife lovely as a rose,
If you reach your every dream, and hold the world in your hands,
Here are some things you still need to know,
You still need to understand.
Caleb, seek Him, seek Him with all your might.
Robert*, trust Him, trust Him with all your might.
My son, love Him, love Him with all your might.

If you look at the book of Proverbs in the Bible, it has 31 chapters.  "Proverbs 32" is a collection of the sayings I taught you when you were younger.  Just like the proverbs of the Bible, may these homemade proverbs guide you through life.  If nothing else, I hope the memories they conjure up of your crazy Dad trying to teach you God's Word will bring a smile to your face and joy to your heart.  Pass them on to your children, Lord willing you have them some day, and may they pass them down from generation to generation.

God's Ways Versus Satan's Ways

For the longest time I thought it would be helpful to see a side-by-side comparison of the ways and values of God versus the ways and values of Satan.  Why?  So you and anyone else who sees them can make an informed choice about the one you want to follow, about whose ways and values you want to live by.  So below this paragraph you will find that very comparison.  What I did was to take certain verses and peel off the words, the ways, the values that they emphasize.  Check the words out.  Check the verses out. Refer to them as often as you like.  Meditate on them.  Use them to help you develop your spiritual eyes.  Note that if a value was listed in more than one of the passages I used, I went ahead and listed it so you would know it was mentioned there.

This is by no means an exhaustive list on either side.  There is still a lot more I could add.  But what would be the fun in me listing it all for you?  Plus, I just peeled off the words.  Go look at the verses themselves to get a better sense of this.  In the end the one question remains, having seen the ways of each, whose ways will you choose?
